Volunteers participate in a bird banding session at The Audubon of Martin County's Possum Long Nature Preserve in Stuart on Tuesday, November 15, 2016. The bird banding project tracks the status and distribution of birds in Possum Long. Birds flying through the preserve are caught in nets. Volunteers quickly remove them, take body measurements, examine the birds for any health issues and then place an identification band on the bird's leg before releasing the birds back into the wild. Fall is a popular time of year as many birds are migrating.
